This photo sharing app post is sponsored by XFINITY, but the experience is all my own.
Need a great photo sharing app that lets you see your images on your TV or share them with loved one’s far away? You are going to love how easy it is with this great app!
In a digital world it’s easier than ever to take pictures but we sometimes just take them and never look at them again. My kids love to see themselves and using the XFINITY Share App we can look at our pictures on our TV screen! But wait it get’s even better!
Let’s face it life with kids is busy and it’s hard to get together with loved ones and share with them what is going on in your lives. Grandparents can’t always make it to our kid’s sports events, but they LOVE to see what is going on. This summer both our boys decided to give swim team a try, and they love it.
We are now able to share with them in live time during the event as they sit in their living room and watch. The best part is that it’s easy for my parents to use. They are not quite as tech savvy as younger people. It took me 30 minutes to explain over the phone how to upload a picture on Facebook if that give you an indication but all they had to do was click the info button on their remote and enjoy.
Have you ever tried to give your kid advice about something you saw when they were playing a sport? Your goal as a parent is to help. Somehow it never comes across that way to a preteen/teen, so you get the good old eye roll! Now we can record them swimming and show it to them later so they can evaluate themselves or we can show them something that might help, and they understand it better.
Here are step by step instructions on how to use the XFINITY Video and Photo Sharing App:
- Download the XFINITY Share App for your iPhone or Android device. Open the photo sharing app and log into your XFINITY account. It will walk you through the initial setup which is giving it access to your photos and microphone.
2. Grab your XFINITY remote and press the XFINITY button you see circled below in red. (I am assuming, of course, you know you need to turn the TV on first)
3. Arrow over to the Apps Menu you see circled in red below.
4. Choose the App on your TV menu that looks like a video camera.
5. Pick up your phone and click the share button in the photo sharing app.
6. Click what you want to do:
Stream Live – Have a live chat using your TV
This does just what it says, you will be having a live conversation on your TV, very similar to using facetime on an iPhone.
Share photos or videos from your camera roll to someone else’s TV
This option will allow you to share with anyone anywhere on XFINITY pre-recorded video or photos. Choose this option and it will use your contact list to choose who you want to receive it. VERY IMPORTANT you must have the contacts email that they use for their XFINITY account for this to work.
Next, select the video or photos you want to share.
The photo sharing app will then upload the video or photos.
Once the video or photos are ready to be shared the person receiving them will get a pop up on their TV Screen that looks like this.
They will then just press the INFO button on their remote and click play to watch.
Here a video from my son’s school performance playing right there from my smartphone on our TV and at my parent’s house.
Cast to TV – Show photos from your phone on your TV screen
This option allows you to put up one photo at a time on the TV from your phone to show someone right there with you. With this option, you will select which TV on which you want to see your pictures. Then your camera roll will open, and you select the picture you want to show, and it will magically appear on your TV screen. You can go back to your camera roll at any time to select another to put up on the screen.
I bet you are totally surprised you can do all this with XFINITY and their photo sharing app on your TV aren’t you? I was and am so excited now that I know how to use it and I hope you will give it a try too!
