Joy Yarn Christmas Pillow

I saw some pillows like this at the Country Living Festival and wanted to make one for myself. I bought a ready made pillow form from Hobby Lobby, yarn and embroidery thread. That is all you need to make this cute christmas pillow.
You can of course buy fabric and make a pillow after you attach your yarn so you can make sure it’s centered.First I laid out the letters on the pillow and pinned them.
Then I took 3 strands of embroidery thread in the same color and started tacking it down. At the start and finish I did about 5 loops in the same place to keep the yarn from unraveling.  I tried to stay at consistent intervals. Every 3rd or 4th stitch I would snag a small bit of the yarn into the thread just to make sure it stays in place.

I sewed around the words and then stuffed the pillow with a pillow insert. This project only took me one evening project while watching a Christmas Movie. It was so simple and  I think it came out really cute!

  3. This is really cute, and I think you could make one for other seasons, depending on the word you chose... did you use burlap? I can't tell what type of fabric that is-- the weave looks tighter than I'd expect for burlap.

Thanks, yes a friend of mine just recommended making them with initials on them. I used a ready made pillow cover from Hobby Lobby it does look similar to burlap but is not itchy. It has buttons on the back.
