Christmas organizational tips Interior Designer Kerrie Kelly to help make decorating easier and keep your ornaments and decorations looking great year after year.
It’s that time of year again! Time to pull out the tree, decorate the mantel and plug in the holiday tunes. While decorating for the holidays is one of the most enjoyable parts of the celebratory season, some of the unpacking and organizing is a bit frustrating.
To ensure you have a smooth and streamlined Christmas season, we’ve compiled our favorite Christmas Organizational Tips and storage solutions.
Ornament Storage
From your most treasured heirlooms to trendy trinkets you’ve picked up for just this season, ornaments are holiday essentials, and there’s nothing like a smashed start decoration to crush your holiday spirit. To keep your favorite adornments safe, opt for ornament storage with specific slots for each piece. The padded walls will ensure that your valuables are kept safe during the off months and are unloaded with ease when it comes time to decorate the tree. No need to pull your hair out during one of the most wonderful times of the year!
Tree Stowing
More and more Americans are opting for faux Christmas trees that are easy to assemble and look identical to the real thing. However, unpacking and reloading can become a bit of a task, especially when there are several moving parts involved, such as a tree stand, topper, and lights. To keep the process simple and streamlined, grab a tree bag. These handy bags often come with a strap for easy carrying and zippers and buckles to ensure each faux branch is stored safely until Santa comes back to town.
Bins and Boxes
While new, savvy storage solutions pop up all of the time, we can’t help but go back to our favorites like plastic storage bins and boxes. Perfect for packing away durable items like plastic decor or faux greenery, these storage bins offer protection and ease of use. Label each one on the top and side to ensure you’re reaching for the right holiday decorations no matter how you configure your storage space.
A Reliable Labeling System
One of the keys to maintaining your sanity during the holiday scene is to have a system in place for unpacking holiday goodies. Make sure you have a reliable labeling system in place to make sure that you are opening the right boxes and bins and are aware of what each container has in store. Label boxes that contain tree stands and foundational decor as “open first” to ensure you aren’t opening boxes of ornaments with nowhere to hang them.
A Gift Wrapping Station
Last but certainly not least, make sure you assemble a gift-wrapping station or other storage solution for your gifting papers and accessories. A gift wrap caddy can be found at most home improvement stores and contains buckles and bins that fit gift wrap rolls, as well as places to stash tissue paper, ribbon and wrapping supplies like scissors and tape. Don’t forget a box for gift tags and receipt storage!
Have you ever used any of these storage systems before? What are your favorite Christmas organizational tips to keep the holidays clean and clutter-free?
