Subway Kids Meal Bag Recycle

by Kelley Wilson Filed Under: Cleaning, Home Tips, Kid Tips, Parenting 14 Comments

So my boys think that the floor of my car is there trash can. I should have taken pics of the nastiness but since I am a baby blogger I didn't think of that before I vacuumed it out yesterday. Lets just say that there were pop tart corners for weeks shoved in the pocket in the back of the car seat.
I have tried a real trashcan in the back but if anyone rides the hump that doesn't work, I have tried stuff from the store but that didn't work. I went to look at the bags that hang on the back of your car seat and at $12-$15 and I need 2 I have put it off.
The other day we went to Subway for lunch and got 2 kids meals and they where given to us in this

Then I had an AHA moment and of course the back of the bag
told me I was right it was meant to be

So I cut the top handle in 1/2

Then I got out a needle, thread, and sew on Velcro (yes a sewing machine would be faster but I am in the middle of a craft room redo so it was more difficult to get it out than do it by hand)

Cut 1/2 inch piece of your Velcro and apply it to opposite sides of the handle so that when you put them together they
will go one on top of another.

Voila you now have a free garbage can for your kiddos

And please ignore the milk splatters on the back of the seat it is a mom car after all!

I don't like those bags at all, they are not good for the environment. Now I know what to do with them. Thanks for the idea. RazMaTaz

Great idea! My son realized this week that we didn't have a garbage can in our car and was very alarmed. This would solve that problem! Thanks for sharing at oopsey daisy!

Now to get the kids to actually put the trash in it - right? Great idea!
