Teaching Preschoolers Graphing

Take the Yoplait Taste-off challenge with kids and teach graphing #TasteOff

This Greek yogurt smack down was sponsored by Yoplait but Mrs. Amanda’s Kindergarten class gave their honest opinions and chose the winner.

Yoplait asked us to give our honest opinions and run a taste test between their Greek yogurt and Chobani’s.  I decided to take them into Matthew’s Kindergarten class and and have a yogurt smack down! In the right corner was Yoplait Greek Blueberry and in the left corner Chobani Greek Blueberry Fruit on the Bottom. We let the kids decide. Kids love to give their opinion and we wanted real results! To make this a learning experience we graphed the results.

Each child was given 2 spoons so we kept it germ free! We set out both yogurts and observed what they looked like. Yoplait was blue and creamy looking. Chobani was pure white they noted. I explained they both were blueberry, so whey did they think the Chobani was white? AJ said it must be hiding underneath.

So we mixed them up to test AJ’s theory and started tasting. Each child dipped a spoon in each yogurt and tasted. Then they went to the graph and wrote their name above the yogurt they liked best. The kids really got into it and there comments were “This is tasty”, “mmmmmmmmmm that’s good”, “Oh this one, this one!”

We often freeze it with sticks to make popsicles. Of course my kid was the only one that did not like either! I guess he is jut not a fan of the Greek variety!

The best part was watching Mrs. Jeanne, who stated she didn’t like Greek yogurt because it was too tart, pick a favorite. To me the Chobani was tart and crisp. The Yoplait was creamier and sweeter, it tasted like regular yogurt. I have to admit I have always bought Chobani and thought for sure I would never switch.

Well are you wondering who won???

Teach Preschool and Kindergarten Students how to graph using a taste test. We had a Greek yogurt smack down! #TasteOff

This smack down was clear,  Yoplait was the winner, 6-3 in favor of the Yoplait!  Mrs. Jeanne is now a convert and said she really liked the Greek Yoplait! Yoplait is is made with no artificial sweeteners or flavors using natural colors and real pieces of fruit. It comes in the following yummy flavors:

  • Blueberry
  • Coconut
  • Pineapple
  • Strawberry Raspberry
  • Vanilla
  • Tangerine
  • Cherry (NEW)
  • Raspberry (NEW)
  • Strawberry (NEW)

I make a smoothie almost every day now so I can’t wait to try all of these great flavors in them. So, I am curious are you surprised by the results of our Yoplait Greek Taste Test: Yoplait Greek Blueberry and Chobani Greek Blueberry Fruit on the Bottom? I was! Maybe you should take the Yoplait Greek Taste Off Challenge, then come back and let me know which one you picked!

A special thanks to Mrs. Amanda for letting me come in and do this fun activity with your class!

That is funny I have always liked blended better than fruit on the bottom. I hope you try it!
  3. What a totally cute idea to have the kids do a blind taste test! I love the photos - especially that handsome little guy of yours! My kids are not crazy about Greek yogurt, but I'm thinking we might have to try the Yoplait since you mentioned it's more like regular yogurt. Thanks for this great review! - ang
