Nautical Bathroom Decor

Nautical Children's Bathroom

Thanks, Target and Quilted Northern for sponsoring this Style ReFlush.

I’ve been putting off doing my boys bathroom for quite a while now and decided to dig in and get it done now that school is back in session. I’m so excited to show you some of the accessories that have brought this space together. Nautical bathroom decor can be really easy and it doesn’t necessarily take a lot of overly “themed pieces” to put it together. I like to take great basics and turn them into my theme so if I decide to change the theme later I don’t have to buy all new accessories.

The first thing I did when planning my bathroom style reflush was head to Target. It’s one of my favorite places to shop for spaces like this because they have so many affordable stylish options. Here’s a peak into my cart and yes that is a glamour shot of my Quilted Northern toilet paper because no bathroom would be complete without it!

I decided on a nautical theme to go with the wallpaper that is already in the bathroom. (I know all you wallpaper haters are cringing but it is what it is for now) I knew I wanted white and navy but kept going back and forth on using red or yellow. I settled on red. Now it was time to paint the cabinets. I’ll tell you all about that in another post but here is a look at the before in all its old brown ugliness. Before Picture of a Nautical Childrens Bathroom you won't believe the after

I wanted a brighter blue that would really pop in this bright white room. I chose Porter Paints Florentine Lapis #PPG1244-7 in a high gloss finish. To go along with it some shiny chrome hardware. Everything in this room is chrome except for the glass shower door trim, but that will be rectified soon trust me!Before and After of a nautical children's bathroom just by painting existing cabinets and accessorizing

With that done it was time to do the fun part, decorate! So I took out my stash from Target and got to work. Before and After of a nautical children's bathroom just by painting existing cabinets and accessorizing

Between the sinks on the long countertop I put a wooden tray with rope handles to tie in my nautical theme. I rolled up two red Threshold Performance hand towels on the left and put two Threshold Oilcan Canisters with cotton swabs and cotton balls in them. I had this cute silver bucket we already were using for floss pics to complete the look. It looks great and puts everything at arms reach for the boys.

I also bought four bath towels to match and hung two of them on the pallet towel hook I made when I first started my blog. The other two will be for when these are in the washer.

Next I placed those plush chunky rugs in Navy in front of each sink. I considered white but with dirty boys I would be washing them every other day to keep them white. The navy fit the nautical childrens decor I was going for and will be much more practicle.

Between the counter and the toilet is this awesome Room Essentials Frosted White wastebasket. I decorated it with a bright blue anchor using my Cricut Machine and outdoor Vinyl. If I ever want to get rid of the anchor I can just use a hair dryer to soften it up and peel it right off. I also made other vinyl lettering home decor for this room as well.A plain white trashcan from Target decorated with vinyl for a nautical theme

Speaking of the toilet I always hate it when I can’t find toilet paper in someone’s bathroom and you can’t find any anywhere, then you are praying to the porcelein god there is a box of tissue somewhere for backup! This chrome and sailcloth tank basket is perfect to hold 6 extra rolls of  Target’s toilet tissue style leader, Quilted Northern. Many people never think toilet paper is a forgettable experience but for me having a high quality great looking tissue is important and with boys you need lots of it! Use a tank basket to hold extra toilet paper no more hunting needed

We also needed a chrome toilet paper holder and this one is easy to use, just slip it on and slip it off, no pesky spring loaded devices to worry about. Besides we all know asking most men to replace toilet paper rolls is like pulling teeth and let’s not get into the whole over/under conversation right now. I liked how the style of this paper holder mimicked the canisters I placed on the countertop. Before and After of a nautical children's bathroom just by painting existing cabinets and accessorizingAcross from the “throne” is the kids shower. I placed a striped indoor/outdoor runner that is lined with rubber so it’s non-slip. On top of it put this Threshold wire basket to use as a dirty clothes basket, it coordinates well with the tank basket. This cute wire basket from Target makes a perfect clothes hamper in the bathroom and this outdoor rug runner works great as a bathmat
