Easy Chore Chart

by Kelley Wilson Filed Under: ADHD and SPD, Kid Tips, Parenting 1 Comment

Last year I pinned this chore chart from My Name is Snickerdoodle. Kids with ADD or Autism often need visual reminders of things they have to do. They very often get side tracked when they are supposed to be doing something. Trying to give more than one instruction at a time and I am wasting my breath.
I got to work making one for Garrett and this easy chore chart has worked out great! After using one for getting ready for school in the morning I made another for the after school.I made mine with a legal size folder by cutting it in half horizontally. I hang it on the fridge with magnets applied to the back.

In the morning all the flaps are down, as he does things he simply flips them up until everything is done.

I just copied and pasted clip art and typed in the To Do/Chore above it, in Microsoft publisher, then printed them out and cut them to fit.

His morning chores:

  • Eat Breakfast
  • Put your Plate in the Sink
  • Brush your Teeth, Get Dressed
  • Take your Medicine
  • Make your Water Bottle and put it in your backpack.

After school chores:

  • Do homework
  • Pack your backpack
  • Empty the dishwasher
  • Clean your room
  • Read for 20 min
  • Brush your teeth
  • Put your pj's on
  • Take your medicine

You can really customize this with any thing you want and the best thing is that no one is looking around for a marker to check stuff off, it is quick and easy and very visual. Do you have a child with ADD or Autism? What are your tips for keeping them on track?
