The Humor in ADHD

by Kelley Wilson Filed Under: ADHD and SPD 9 Comments

Some may get offended that I put ADHD and Comedy together. As Howie Mandel says “It's funny, but it's not, but it's funny” If we can't laugh at ourselves we are not living a full life. I  am not making fun of people like myself because I was persecuted by teachers and others that did not understand and it was not funny. There are so many things that I now realize are a result of my ADHD that crack me up. Here are some things that show the humor in it

This is a great video from a Christian Comedian Jeff Allen

Really my brain does work like this. When my husband and I were first married we would be lying in bed at night reading and I would say hey let me ask you a question (it's become a phrase he hates) I would ask him a question and he would say where in the heck did that come from? I would say well it may not make sense to you but here is what has been going through my brain and here is how I got to this question, he would roll his eyes and sweetly answer.

This one is a little risque to don't watch with kids around Al Goodwin

I hope you have had a good laugh and I am not making fun but just saying, our brains do work differently and we are going 90 miles an hour in our heads and it sometimes can be funny.

Here is Ben Glenn explaining ADHD, he is a motivational speaker who appreciates the god given gift of ADHD

Do you or someone you know have ADHD? Do you have a funny story to share?

My hubby is diagnosed with ADHD, I'm not labeled that b/c I was home-schooled, however... lol :)
Reading through your blog a little I see you are into supplements instead of medication, yay for you! Hubby takes omega3's now, and is doing better with them then he did with the medication he was on since he was in 1st grade.

Actually I am into both see herehttps://www.missinformationblog.com/2012/03/why-i-drug-my-child-top-5-supplements.html Meds are not for everyone but they work well for us. We did however do 2 years of Occupational Therapy for Sensory Integration Disorder before Meds. It is my personal belief that Garrett is on less meds because of the OT, it allowed him to handle some of the other stuff that would normally be considered ADHD symptoms.
Glad you visited hope you'll be back.
