Hi all! Rachel from {i love} my disorganized life here. Can you believe it’s December already? Christmas has always been my favorite time of the year. Growing up, I can recall the glow of the Christmas lights outside my bedroom window, the decorated Christmas tree in the living room, the Hershey’s Kisses in the candy dish, holding hands & encircling the tree with my sister and cousins while singing Christmas carols. I don’t know about you, but with all the baking, shopping, decorating and gatherings, I tend to forget to slow down and truly enjoy the holiday season. To help you {and me!} remember the true meaning of Christmas, {which, to me, is compassion, hope, love & peace}, I’ve compiled a list of 15 family Christmas activities that are fun and meaningful to enjoy with your family and friends.
- Drive around and look at Christmas lights
- Take dog/cat treats to an animal shelter
- Take books to a children’s hospital
- Visit a retirement/nursing home
- Make dinner for families at a Ronald McDonald House
- Volunteer at a homeless shelter
- Go to church/mass
- Read Charles Dickens’ ‘A Christmas Carol’
- Adopt a family
- Have each family member write a short paragraph for a family year-end letter
- Take a family photo
- Have appetizers for dinner on Christmas Eve with your kids {no major cooking involved!}
- Read the Christmas story from Luke 2:1-20
- Take baked goods to your local fire station
- Open a ‘family’ gift on Christmas Eve {like a game everyone can play that night}
What other family Christmas activities can you think of? I’d love to hear your suggestions!
