Wood Sign Wedding Gift, Mark The Date

by Kelley Wilson Filed Under: Crafts, Crafts and DIY Leave a Comment

When my husband and I got married we had an outdoor garden shower; friends brought us tools and garden decor for our new home. Since this was a shower more for the hubby, I got him a gift from me. It was a sign to hang outside our home celebrating when our family was established.

When we heard our friend Becca, from It's Yummi, got engaged Julie, from White Lights on Wednesday, and I decided to throw her a virtual shower. A few of us are sharing our Fall Themed Wedding Shower ideas. She is getting married on Halloween! Congrats Becca, we are so excited for you and wish we could be there in person to give you all these wonderful things!picmonkey-collage

My contribution to the shower was the gift. I made the happy couple a wooden sign to celebrate the beginning of their new home together!

I bought a wood sign blank at a local craft store. Becca and Brian's  home colors will be light and beachy, and this is a light sage green. I took my Cricut and black vinyl and cut out the letters using the Jasmine cartridge. Her new last name will be Donovan. I cut out the last name in 3 1/2” letters. The other letters are 1”. The sign has the date that their home was established, which is their wedding date.

Once the sign was finished, I covered it in Mod Podge, two coats,  so that it would seal in the vinyl and prevent it from coming off. Becca and her new husband can hang this anywhere in their house or incorporate it into a picture collage of her and Brian. Mine always makes me smile because it celebrates the day that we became a family, a home not just man and wife. It is one of my most treasured items from our wedding and it hangs right outside our front door.

I also have a gift for you right now you can Get $20 off any Cricut machine! Use HALLOWEEN20 at checkout. Coupon Code: HALLOWEEN20 . This deal ends on Tuesday, October 29th at 11:59 pm. MST. I love my Cricut and can do so many neat things with it.

Your sign is on the way to you, I hope you and Brian enjoy it and have a wonderful day! Now it's time to see all the other great shower ideas!
