At home hair color can by scary but eSalon helped me get over my fear with professionally blended hair color I could use at home for only $19.95! At the end of this post, I'm going to give you the chance to try it at 50% off!
I must admit I have had my share of hair coloring mishaps. In college I went blond which was a big mistake, then I tried ash brown, and it literally looked like I dyed my hair with an ashtray. I am starting to get gray.
It's not bad yet, but I have been toying with dying it. There were only two things holding me back. First, I didn't want to pay $70 or more to have it done in the salon and second I have no trust in myself to pick the right hair color from a shelf full of boxed hair dye. I was contemplating paying my hair stylist a fee to help me pick one from the store and then eSalon asked me to give their system a try and share my results with you. Just to be clear the DIY in this post, is Dye it Yourself!
What sold me on at home hair color with eSalon
I must admit I was a little scared ordering hair dye over the internet; I thought they had to be crazy, but it was fantastic. I went online and created a profile. It asked me questions about my hair color, skin tone, etc. and then had me upload three pictures so they could see me and my hair. They emailed me for a chat with my custom colorist to ask a few more questions to make sure she got it right. A few days later my kit arrived.
Included in my eSalon Hair Coloring Kit were personalized instructions with my name on it and they concurred with what the colorist told me she was sending me on the phone. They were also nice enough to treat me to the brush, cup, and timer but they are extra if you order. The hair color is individually blended using professional ingredients usually only found in salons, so it's made just for me.
I followed my eSalon hair color directions to the letter! Keep in mind your directions may be different. First, I clipped my hair into four sections. I purchased clips and cape so that I would have them for future use. The clips are sturdy and hold tight, not like some I've purchased at my local drug store.
Then working one section at a time, I dyed just the roots using the brush and bowl. You can also squeeze it from the bottle if that is more comfortable for you.
After waiting for fifteen minutes, I put the at home hair color on the ends and waited for another ten.
Finally, I washed it with the included shampoo and conditioner. My custom colorist also recommended Tinted Love a color enhancing treatment to use every 1-2 weeks so my color would stay the same and not turn brassy as it can tend to do. Now I just sit back and in a few weeks I will wait for my next kit to arrive at the time I selected. One of the bonuses is they keep hair color history, so if I want to tweak it a little or change it I can go into my account and do so or contact my color stylist at any time via phone or email with questions.
If you are still a little hesitant to try eSalon, then let me put your mind at ease. The company launched in 2010 and won the Best Home Hair Color Award by Allure, the first ever independent brand to win this award. InStyle Magazine chose them as Best of the Web and two years in a row Total Beauty Best Hair Color Winner. They've been featured on Rachel Ray and in Uk Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Forbes, The New York Times and more! They are available in the US, UK, Canada and Europe and stand behind their product with a money-back guarantee.
So here is the final reveal! I love most that my hair has dimension and reflects the light. It's not just one solid color and looks really natural. This was so easy to do and I am totally a fan now.
