The Easy Way to Unclog Your Sink

by Kelley Wilson Filed Under: Cleaning, Home Tips 2 Comments

A few weeks ago I shared with you how to make refrigerator deodorizers. Today I am going to start a new series called Quick Tip Tuesday. Today I am going to show you how to use your leftover Fridge Deodorizers to unclog your sink or to deodorize your disposal.

How to Unclog and Deodorize your sinks naturally - Miss Information's Quick Tip Tuesday

Quick Tip Tuesdays will be small tips I use that are quick and make your life easier. I very often get hair clogs in my bathrooms. With lots of hair no matter what I do by drains get clogged every few months. Likewise my kitchen disposal get's smelly from all the food we put down it.

These refrigerator deodorizers will freshen your fridge and  last about 30 days so when I take them out I use them to unclog or deodorize my sinks.

Make Your own Deodorizer disks for your fridge just 3 ingredients and so easy to make

First place the disk over the drain or in your disposal. I have laid this one on top of my disposal so you can see the fizzing action but normally I would put it down in the disposal.

Use homemade fridge deordorizers to unclog and clean your sink

Pour about a cup of vinegar on top. This will not dissolve the entire disk.

The fizz action will help to unclog your drains. You can see here the fizzing action. It is amazing how well these common household items work. If you don't have time to make the deodorizers you can just use 1/2 cup of regular baking soda and 1 cup of vinegar.

Run hot water for a minute after the fizzing stops. If your clog is really bad you may need to do a second treatment. When I clean  my disposal I turn on the disposal with hot water running to finish cleaning it.

I hope you liked this quick tip and find it useful when your sink is clogged or a little smelly! If you have a great household or cooking tip I would love for you to leave me a comment.

I have used this method as well for my sink, you can also use the deodorizer in the bottom of the garbage cans, and you can use them in the toilet by place the tab in the toilet before you clean to help deodorize and clean for you
