Lego Table

by Kelley Wilson Filed Under: Crafts and DIY, DIY, Kid Tips, Parenting 12 Comments

OK so I originally saw the idea on Pintrest but it was done on a small table and I wanted something that both boys and friends could play on. So I went to Ikea and they had this Lack coffee table for $20. With the measurements of 20×30 for the top I was able to fit 6 Lego plates. Bonus they were buy one get one free at Toys R Us.

So first you put the table together and it was really easy. Then you measure because you will have some overage on each side and you want them to be centered. I used a white pencil from my sewing kit to mark the corner.

Then you get a strong glue and put it all over the back, this glue dries clear, make sure you put it all the way to the edge which I found out afterwards so that they cannot be pulled up by the corners.

Start at your marked corner and then glue them all down. The perfect Lego table with a shelf for storage for less than $50. I got 2 bins to store stuff underneath, they are called a very useful box and I found them at office depot. they slide out the sides like drawers.

I got it ready just in time for Garrett's birthday party and the boys played on it for hours!

If I were to get all the supplies and make this table awesome for 4 kids to play at once, how many Lego sets would you think I would need to buy?

I would think 2 of the big tubs with legos of all sizes would work great to start with.

Hey Geof, this is the cheaper smaller coffee table and that was the price when the post was written 4 years ago. Thanks for the complement!

This is awsome! I am going to try to find a good table at a yard sale this summer, and make this for my boys. My oldest also wants a Lego birthday party, so this will be perfect! I have looked at the ridiculously expensive, SMALL tables they sell in the stores, but this is WAY better, and cheaper!!! Thanks for the great idea!!
