Green Fruit Smoothie & How to Freeze Bananas

I love smoothies for breakfast. They are so easy to throw together and really give me an energy boost. This is the first green smoothie I tried and it was awesome! You don’t taste the green ingredient at all! I love using frozen bananas in my smoothies so I’m also going to show you how to freeze bananas and keep them from turning brown.

Before I give you my version of this green smoothie I’m going to show you how to freeze bananas so you can pull out the right amount for your smoothie and keep them from turning brown. When I was at the store I bought 2 bunches of bananas, they ripened really fast and I hated to throw them away. I have tried putting whole bananas in a bag and freezing them, but they tend to turn brown. I was also given the tip to just put the unpeeled banana in the freezer and peel it when ready to use. That was a total pain, it was like peeling a sticker off glass trying to get the peel off. I decided to cut the bananas into slices and spread them on a baking pan covered with parchment

I put the pan in the freezer for about an hour. This way they don’t stick in clumps that you have to ice pick apart!  I put them in a freezer bag and now I have them when I need them for banana bread or fruit smoothies!

  7. Great recipe!!! I love the thought of adding spinach. My husband makes me one every morning with hemp seed hearts, chia seeds, and coconut oil added in to the fruit. All very healthy for you. I'll have to try your recipe. Lynn@Scrapity Anne

It sounds good! I wish I had a juicer!
  11. Did you know that if you stick the whole banana in the freezer, peel and all, it will work just fine? I do mine like that, and then I take one out for a smoothie. One banana makes 2 large smoothies for us. Just chop it in chunks about 2 in long, after you peel it. If you wanna use it for banana bread, just let it thaw all the way, and unpeel it. It's already squishy for you then.:)I really need to try putting spinach in my smoothies. We do just fruit.

I make a very similar smoothie every morning and totally love it! Mine is a little smaller in scale so I use my magic bullet with about 1/2 the container of mixed frozen fruit (strawberries, mango, pineapple, blueberries), 1/2 banana, fill the rest of the space with spinach (love it!) and then instead of water I like to use fresh carrot juice from my juicer.
