Paleo snack mix is loaded with a healthy crunch and sweet and salty goodness. It is the perfect grab-n-go snack!
I’m always looking for a good, quick and easy snack in the summer. When it’s hot and humid outside, I just don’t feel like eating in the middle of the day.
My friend, Becky, shared her paleo snack mix recipe with me at the pool one afternoon, and I had to make some! Becky started eating paleo about a year ago. She also shared a great paleo breakfast recipe with me.
I am not paleo, and never will be, because I’m not about to give up anything with cheese! I’ve never met a cheese I didn’t like. But that’s another story for another day. I can, however, indulge in some of their healthy snack recipes when I’m trying to be good!
This Paleo snack mix is full of seeds, nuts, dried fruits, and CHOCOLATE!!!
The chocolate takes it over the top, so it’s pretty much gourmet trail mix! I made mine with small milk chocolate pieces because I had them on hand, but Becky’s was made with large Ghirardelli DARK CHOCOLATE baking chips, which was really better. (Fun Fact: Dark chocolate is actually a really healthy snack choice in moderation. Among other things, it promotes healthy blood flow in the arteries which in turn could help prevent blockages! For more information on the benefits of dark chocolate go here.) So when you see the recipe below, be sure to follow that ingredient instruction.
Once I made the paleo snack mix, I stored it in these great portion pack zip bags, from Target. Now I can just grab and go.
I hope you enjoy this paleo snack mix recipe!
- 1 cup walnuts broken into pieces
- 1 cup almonds
- 1 1/2 cups sunflower seeds
- 1 1/2 cups raw pumpkin seeds
- 1 1/2 cups dried cherries*
- 2 cups Ghirardelli dark chocolate baking chips
- Pour ingredients into a bowl or a large container with a cover
- Mix with your hands or put the top on and shake.
- Leave in covered container or portion out into zipper bags
I prefer cherries but you can use cranberries, blueberries, raisins or mixed berries.
