My husband love to make pulled pork on his Big Green Egg. He has perfected it I have to say. He BBQ’s at our church for fundraisers, it’s always a sell out and when we make it at home everyone wants to come. This year on the 4th of July some of our best friends, the Cowies, were visiting from Orlando. We were scheduled to go to our annual Fireworks in the Park and the Hubb’s wanted to make some Q. We had 2 pork butts. They are beautiful right!

I’m still working on getting him to let me reveal his recipe! Getting a man to reveal his rub recipe or his sauce recipe is like asking the president to reveal the nations military strategy. Unfortunately this summer it has rained almost every day in Georgia and that day was no exception. Almost every park including ours canceled or postponed their fireworks. So we had the 4th at home but it was so relaxing and fun. We had a ton of BBQ left over so a few days later we made pizza with it. We used our homemade bbq sauce but you can use any bottled sauce you prefer in a pinch. You can also get my tips on how to get a really crispy crust in the oven here.
- Pizza Dough*
- Pulled Pork**
- Homemade BBQ Sauce
- Red Onion
- Monterrey Jack Cheese
- Preheat your oven to 425 degrees. To make the crispiest crust on your pizza you can see how I do that here.
- Stretch out your pizza dough and place it on your pre-heated pan or grill.
- Spread the BBQ sauce just like you would marinara sauce on a traditional pizza.
- Sprinkle the pulled pork around then the red onion.
- Top with your Monterrey Jack Cheese and place in the oven for about 15 minutes.
we get the fresh pizza dough from Publixâ??s deli section but here is a great recipe if you want to make it yourself
*we often grab a rotisserie chicken and pull it which is just as good and great when you need a quick meal!
***when we donâ??t make our own we use Sweet Baby Rayâ??s Sweet and Spicy
I promise you won’t regret making this BBQ Pizza and even our picky pants boys love it and I promise I’ll keep working on the hubbie for the rub recipe!
