Alphabet Photography is the brainchild of Jennifer Blakeley. It was inspired by a children’s book called “Alphabet City” by Stephen T Johnson. Jennifer is the original Alphabet photographer. Using photos she has taken of architectural elements she creates words that have meaning to the lucky recipient.
Gifts are a sensory experience and Alphabet Photography does it right. When I received my box in the mail and opened it I saw this beautiful bubble wrapped package to protect my art. It was carefully wrapped with colored rafia and a pop of color from a yellow envelope with my name on it. The personalized letter explains your art and the history of alphabet art. Each piece is signed and dated by the artist making it your one of a kind.
You can be sure if you send this to someone out of town they will receive a gift that looks and feels personalized instead of just another item thrown in a box from a company with some bubble wrap. The best thing is that they do this for everyone not just those that pay an up charge! Take at look at this video to see how it is done.
The fun is in the creation. When you go to Alphabet Photography you can type in a word. Use a name or any word that has meaning to you. I wanted to use a word that describes our family. Chris and I decided on Happiness. The website will pop in the letters of the word you choose.
You can then begin to customize any letters you want one by one. For instance I used a column as the “I” because it reminded me of a The White House, Chris attended college at Catholic University in Washington D.C. The “A” reminded me of a church window signifying our religion. The “N” reminded me of my families past living on farms it’s made with rustic wood.
Then you pick your frame. There are many options from a modern float mount to the wonderful 3″ solid wood dark chocolate frame distressed with gold. It also included a museum quality double mat with a V-Groove. I chose the later as we have a more traditional home and it was recommended as the best frame to show off the artwork. This piece is valued at $169.95.
I hung our new Alphabet Photograph in our main living room along with pictures of our 2 children. These are pictures of our 2 boys at various stages in chronological order. Besides each other they are the 2 people in our lives that bring us the most happiness. They have changed our lives immeasurably and I am so excited to have this art that says it in a beautiful way.
There are many ways other than your own home you could give this art as a gift. Using the last name for a newly married couple, the name of a person’s company for a corporate gift, or a word that will inspire someone at the office. I can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t love to have this as a gift and it is so fun to create!
