Joy Yarn Christmas Pillow

I saw some pillows like this at the Country Living Fair and wanted to make one for myself. I bought a ready made pillow form from Hob Lob, yarn and embroidery thread. You can of course buy fabric and make a pillow after you attach your yarn.

Country Gravy Breakfast Casserole

Last week I found this recipe for a breakfast casserole using gravy and biscuits and it was good but I was missing the eggs! So I decided to make my own spin on it and make it a little more traditional or a little more southern should I say.

So here are the ingredients:

1 package of sausage your choice
1 package of Pioneer Brand Peppered Sausage Gravy Mix
1 cup Cheddar Cheese
6 eggs
1/2 cup milk
Salt and Pepper
1 can Pillsbury Grands Biscuits

Preheat oven to 350 degree's. Take a 9x13 pan and spray it with Pam or whatever you like to use. Then take the Biscuits and it into 1" pieces and line bottom of pan. Brown Sausage and scatter over biscuits. Sprinkle with Cheddar Cheese. Whisk eggs and milk with a pinch of salt and pepper and pour it over the pan. Make Gravy mix per package directions and pour over. Bake in the oven for about 30-45 minutes.

It's light and not too heavy and just right. The biscuits were light and browned and it had everything you want in a breakfast. It's a southern breakfast in one dish and is wonderful! I will so be making this again and it was really quick!

Hello all. I have heard so many requests for ways to help Sandy Hook families. In response, I wanted to let you all know that our elementary PTO has been asked to create a winter wonderland for Sandy Hook students when they come to Chalk Hill for the remainder of the school year. They are asking for snowflakes - as many snowflakes as we can make - to decorate the school. They will hang on windows, bulletin boards, doors and walls. They will hang from the ceiling and from desks, and anything else they can think of. Please make all of the snowflakes you can manage, and to the teachers included here, your whole school can send snowflakes as well. There is no such thing as too many snowflakes. The kids will be allowed to take some home, so they will be replenishing them daily - it's a fantastic idea. Please send me the name of your group/school/family so that we can make sure that the Newtown PTO can know where all of the love is coming from. Mail your snowflakes to me no later than January 1st at
Sandy Hook Snowflakes
c/o Lya Schulz
24 Squire road
Monroe CT. 06468.

To anyone who wishes not to participate - I completely understand - my snowflakes will be filled with tears too, and I know some of you have made the parenting decision not to tell your kids, and as a parent, I COMPLETELY understand that. Thank you all.

Please also feel free to forward this, including my address to anyone you feel would like to help.

Lya Schulz.

A Moment of Silence

Yesterday and Today many of my fellow bloggers are joining in for a moment of silence in honor of the victims of Sandy Hook Elementary. As we all continue to morn and grieve with these families, I hope you will all continue to pray for the children, teachers and parents that survived the tragedy, that they will find some peace. I hope today you will take the time you may have used to visit my blog to think about these families.

My 1st Blogiversary

I would like to start today off by expressing my deep sadness and heavy heart over the tragedy at Sandy Hook. I have been dealing with what I tell my child, what I don't tell my child and thinking what if that had been my child. I am deeply saddened that the media has taken the chance to spotlight autism as a reason for this. Autism is not a mental illness. Tomorrow I will be participating in a blogging day of Silence out of respect for the victims and there families. My blog, Twitter, and Facebook will all be quiet and I will be saying the rosary for these families as they face the holiday that will be so hard for them all.

Today is my 1st Blogiversay!

I know I could have done a big giveaway and really blown it out but I just really wanted to say Thank You to all of you who have featured, followed, commented and given me advice over the last year. I am very blessed to have joined this blogging community. Being a blogger has introduced me to new things and made me do more for myself and for my kids. Last year on December 12th I shared with you my very first post which was my son's Lego table. It was not earth shattering or some big introduction but it was a toe in the water of a great big lake! As a person with ADHD I am known for starting something and getting tired of it or frustrated and quitting. I am so proud of myself that I finished this year and am looking forward to continuing for another! I hope you will all stay with me for another year of recipes, crafts and fun stuff! See you back on Wednesday with a yummy new recipe for chocolate bark!

Split Pea Wreath Pin

My sister gave me one of these a few years ago and I really love to wear it during the holidays. I was so sad when it broke so called her for the recipe. I am making a few of them since they are next to NOTHING to make and give them as gifts. Perfect for the preschool teacher in your life!

I Freakin' Did it Friday #17

Hey Everyone I hope you are all getting in the swing of things for Christmas! I love this time of year and I am trying to make it as least complicated and calm as I can. I am not trying to do too much and just enjoy it with my kids. This is a hard life change for me but totally worth it. We have been having lots of fun with our elves Dude and Tommy. My favorite was when the boys were especially naughty one day. The next day the elves arrived with little bags of coal from the Dollar Store and a message on their bathroom mirror:

It says Naughty List! I wonder if they got the hint we will see.

I knew what last weeks most viewed would be as soon as I saw it! Christine from the DIY Dreamer shared her Wall Mounted Advent Calendar. I love it, so rustic and a beautiful decoration.

Wilson House Happenings

I wanted to share some recent things we have had going on at Wilson House. None of these events was enough for a blog post but are all too fun or too cute not to share. Mattie had his Thanksgiving play at school he was a pilgrim and his durlfriend (aka girlfriend) Leslie was turkey! The other day in the car it was so cute someone asked him why she was his girlfriend and his reply was, " Because she's beautiful that's why"

Ravioli Bianca Bake

Ok let me start this off with this is NOT a sponsored post. No one asked me to do this or to rave about it, nor is anyone paying me. There, that said you can continue to read because it's so worth trying this recipe. When I shop at Publix we very often have the sweetest people from the bakery making a recipe for us to try. They are called Aprons Simple Meals. A few weeks ago I tried the Ravioli Bianca Bake with a Tomato Artichoke Salad and it was divine! I grabbed the recipe and pulled it out this week to try. I was really curious as to how the hubby would like it because he is picky.
