I Freakin Did it Friday #8

Happy Friday! It has been a busy week at Wilson House! I have started a new 1200 calorie diet thanks to my friend Cheryl sharing what works for her. I have also discovered the beautiful Lilburn Greenway Trail

This is a trail not 5 minutes from my house and is beautiful and peaceful. One day I even saw a little bunny!  I have started walking and in 2 weeks have lost almost 3 lbs. On Mondays my friend Mary walks with me and it is so fun just to get some girl time, then we went to lunch and had Mexican, I know counter productive right!

So on to this weeks party!

This weeks most viewed link goes to the lovely Carrie at My Favorite Finds. What I Wish I Had Known BEFORE I Joined Pinterest. Thank you Carrie because I sat down with a glass of wine and my computer last Friday and re-organized my Pinterest Boards, go check them out!

My faves for this week are:

White Lights on Wednesday's Thai Pizza with Peanut Butter Sauce from her Get Your Chef on Challenge. I love the Thai Pizza from CPK and cannot WAIT to try this!

Next up is Kirsten from Craftiments her Autumn Decor Cornhusk and Fabric Pumpkins, I love these and they look like they belong in a decorating magazine!

Do It Yourself Cars Party from House of Woyaks. Heather has such a cute Blog you should go check it out!

My final pick for the week is Dishing with Leslie's Jade Red Chicken, OMG this just looks so awesome!

Adding Characters to your Comments on Social Media

Ok if you are really tech savvy then just skip right over this post and read the great one below it! If you are in your 40's like me and savvy but not cool keep reading. Last night my one of my BFF's Becky and I were having a conversation with a dad during Soccer Practice about Google. They are both teachers and were talking about technology in the classroom. One of the comments we were laughing over was that it is faster to Google a question than to ask your professor. What do you want to know? Just Google it, ask the whole question. My recent one was how to make a heart on Facebook  I see emoticons all the time but have never known how to make them. Disclaimer people I'm 43, I took typing on a typewriter in high school, we didn't have computers when I was young so yes I am a little behind the times! So here is how you make hearts, suns and all kinds of stuff.

Lot's of Halloween Ideas to Get Started on Now

I've already started getting ready for Halloween, I LOVE Halloween. It was never my holiday till I had kids but after having Garrett I totally got into it. It is just as fun to decorate for as Christmas. Last week I made my new wreath and then I made these cute pumpkins. All they are is a $1 store pumpkin and some Krylon Glitter Blast Spray Paint. Then I got the ribbon at Micheals, it is gold but webby like a spider web. I just tied it in a bow around my candlesticks and that was it. I think they look pretty cute and will work for Fall or Halloween. I did let Garrett help me so you will have to forget the overspray drip marks and he ran us out before we go the bottom done but oh well they are high up and you have to get really close to notice it in person.

I Freakin' Did it Friday #6

This week has been a great week. It is still hot hear in Georgia but you can feel fall coming and I cannot wait. I'm in my 40's and lets just say at a time when any cool breeze is appreciated. Tuesday I got together with some Mom's from my son's school and we scrapped for an ENTIRE day. It was heaven to dip my toes back into scrapbooking, how I miss it so. I will share some of my scrapbooking soon.

I could not believe all the wonderful links this week and I had the WORST time picking. I would pick one and then go oh yea but what about that one. You ladies amaze me at your creativity.

So this weeks most viewed post goes to Make ahead Freezer Burritos by Mary Beth at Cupcakes and Crinoline. These are wonderful beef bean and rice burritos to pull out for lunch or dinner in a hurry. If you are looking for a breakfast burrito you can freeze make sure to check out my post from last week.

Halloween Wreath

This is my current Fall Door arrangement. Red is my favorite color so I pulled apart some older arrangements I was tired of and put it all together here. I am not a flower arranger, my mom can make wonderful arrangements and wreaths but she did not pass that gene to me! This was mostly put together by her and re-transplanted.

Since Halloween is coming soon I decided to make a new wreath for the door since my old one was looking really sad. I already had a straw wreath form so I took my coupon to Hobby Lobby and bought 4 rolls of tulle, 2 orange and 2 black, and some wood letters. I started by cutting the tool into squares.

Bacon Alfredo Fettuccine

The Hubby and I love Food Network, it is really a battle some weekends to get off the sofa and do something because we get totally sucked in. Yesterday we had soccer games for both boys. Matthew's first ever. We were so excited and right as we got to the field they were clearing the fields due to lightning, then the rain came and the game was canceled. We decided to run some errands and went to the grocery store. It's been a while since Daddy has made home made pasta. I know some people say it's not worth it but I disagree, it is TOTALLY worth it. We made a version of this recipe from the Neeley's.

The secret to no Tears When Chopping Onions

A few years ago my hubby and I took a class at our local cooking store called Knife Skills 101. We learned how to de-bone a chicken, julian, chop, how to hold a knife correctly and tons of other skills. The one thing that has stuck the most with me is how to not cry when chopping onions. Now we have all heard  wives tales about holding a match in your mouth, chewing gum, and getting them cold first, none of that ever worked for me! The trick at the end of this post has never failed me.

First let's look at how to chop an onion:

Look at our onion, it has 2 sides one is the root side and it looks like this
