You don't have to throw away a sippy cup with curdled milk!

So have you ever found a sippy cup like this in your house?

Yes that is what you think it is, solid chunky milk. I have found these little gems under my sofa, under the car seats or sitting in my sink when I was being a lazy dish washer. My dishwasher has a sanitizing option so the cups will get really clean but some times you can't get the stank out of the plastic. What do you do? Let me guess......you throw the cup away.
Well my friends no more, and you won't believe how simple the solution is...you put the cup in the freezer over night after you wash it and the smell will be gone in the morning. Yes it is magic and yes it really works. Try it and let me know if it works for you!

An Olympic Party Roundup

OK so I must admit I am not a big watcher of the Olympics. Must be because I am not a huge fan of sports, hence the reason I don't exercise much and am pleasingly plump! So I thought in honor of the upcoming Olympics I would share some of the great stuff others are doing. I do plan to catch some of the womens soccer and gymnastics, my book club just read Off Balance by Dominique Moceanu a very interesting look into the life of an Olympic gymnast and what it takes for children to get there. Before we get to the roundup in honor of the Olympics

Buttered Italian Shrimp

Have you seen this on Pinterest? I pinned it a long time ago and finally got to try it. The person I pinned did not have a blog and put the recipe up, now it seems that pin is gone and I cannot find her name to give her credit for it but I have to say this is one of the best and easiest shrimp recipes I have ever had.

Given and Gettin Blog Awards

I am always so thankful to everyone who comments on my blog or tells me how they love my blog. We bloggers always wonder if anyone out there is truly paying attention and really LIKING what we are putting out there. In the past 2 weeks I have been so blessed to be given the following awards from 2 wonderful ladies. You might think these are trivial but they really give us bloggers the understanding that other bloggers like and appreciate what we are doing. The first was from Sarah at The Ease of Freeze, well the name just says it all about how totally cool her site is!  Thank you so much Sarah!

In receiving this I am required to:
*Thank the blogger who nominated me for the award
*Include a link to their blog in you post, as well as the award image
*Give 7 random facts about yourself

The next 2 awards are from the wonderful Carrie at My Favorite Finds. Her recipes alone are reason enough to follow her blog. Some will make you gain weight just reading them but they are well worth it!

Breakfast in a Cup

While we were on vacation in San Diego my sister got me hooked on instant grits again. I used to eat these every morning at my desk when I worked.

Ingredients:
2 Packets Quaker Instant Grits
1 Cup Water
Butter
Salt to taste
Shredded Cheese of your choice
Egg
Toast (optional)

So I got out my big soup mug  and made the grits, it's 2 packets of Quaker Instant Grits and 1 cup of water. Stir them good with a fork till you get all the clumps out, if you don't you will get a big gooey glop in your grits. Put them in the microwave for 2 minutes, Then I put in a little butter and salt and stirred really good. Next I sprinkled some cheese on top and then placed a fried egg* on top.

Guest Ready Bathrooms

Thank you to Kleenex Hand Towels for sponsoring this post about how I'm making my bathroom guest-ready! To learn more about Kleenex Hand Towels or to find out how you can save money when you buy your own, check out this site.

Our family uses Kleenex hand towels in our guest bathroom and has for over 2 years now. This bathroom is not only for our guests but is the only one on the main floor of our home so it is used by everyone. Can you say germ city! There is a very important reason why we use Kleenex hand towels and why I love them so much. When my husband had his kidney transplant they talked to us about germs and said that bathroom hand towels were the worst place in a house to transfer germs to each other, this is when we started using Kleenex Hand Towels and I can honestly say that we have had a decrease in passing colds and things around our house.

Our Annual 4th of July T-Shirts

The boys usually buy some sort of 4th of July T-shirt, this year we decided to make our own. We found this cheap but great Tie Die Kit at Wal-Mart. Let me apologize for the quality of these pics, when we were on vacation Mattie broke my camera so while it is traveling to Nikon to be fixed my I phone will have to do.

Summer Water Fun

So this week in Atlanta we have had our hottest days ever on record 112 degrees. My poor A/C is working overtime, last night our thermostat was set on 72 and the inside temp was 85. What better way to combat the heat then a little water fun! Last year I bought a water balloon pump this has been one of my best purchases ever.

Matthew has played with it everyday! You fill the bottle with water and then pump the handle to create pressure, squeeze the trigger and it pumps it right into the balloon, no more dragging the hose around or standing at the spigot to fill them. So here is our first round, they remind me of a bowl of Easter eggs.

OK Mattie's poised and ready to go, let's call big brother out to the back porch!
