Kicked up Taco Night and my Birthday

Today is my 43rd 29th birthday again!

My hubby gave me the best gift ever a light box for me to take my pics with for my blog. So nice to have a supportive hubby! He earned major brownie points for that one. My favorite food is Mexican and we are going out tonight with some friends but in honor of my great hubby and Mexican food I thought I would share his spicy tacos and seriously we can eat 5 each when we make these! They totally Rock!

OK so usually I do a great step by step tutorial but my hubby was cooking and I was drinking a corona so this is the only pic you get sorry!
Hubby's nickname is Chef No-tellin, Because he can open up the fridge and there is no tellin what he will come out with but it's always good.

Now there is nothing better than a good ol nasty(in a good way) Old El Paso in a box taco night. We like the flat bottom taco shells that stand up and we use the Old El Passo low sodium taco mix.

Now Taking Sponsors and Guest Posters!

I have 2 big announcements! First is something I have contemplated for quite a while and that is taking on Sponsors and Advertisers. I've decided to take the plunge thanks to Passionfruit who basically take the stress out of the mess. You can view how to sponsor or place an ad on my page here.

There are many options available and right now you can use code: ivegotyourinformation to get a FREE small 100x100 ad with an ad swap of course!

Second!

I am also asking for Guest Posters for June 9th-20th. I'll be taking a break and would love to feature  you. It can be a relevant re-post that is over 6 months old, a new post or tutorial, or a introduction with highlights of your blog. It's first come first serve and must be relevant to my blog. I do reserve the right to not post your submission after I receive it if I don't think it is relevant. If you are interested in guest posting email me at kelleywilsons4@gmail.com.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Do you give pause to think of what our military does for us?

Today on this day I would like to share with you the story of a wonderful Hero who's story has touched my life and the lives of Many Friends.  Very often we sit here in our cozy homes doing our crafts, playing with our children and the people that are fighting for us never cross our minds. They are out of site and not something we give pause to on a daily basis. We should. These men and women are brave and selfless they give up all the comforts of home and family to protect us and others. There spouses and children sacrifice for there bravery. This is Justin Lansford, he is 22 years old, and has a long road ahead. The amazing thing is this boys wonderful heart and positive attitude at the long road ahead.
He is a true Hero and so are his friends, every day.

Excerpt from the Gwinnett Daily Post:

Justin Lansford, a 2007 Brookwood grad, lost his left leg to an amputation and lost his spleen after the explosion and is on a ventilator because of a lung and chest injuries. The 22-year-old also has a lacerated liver, two broken femurs and multiple broken bones in his right leg.
He has undergone two abdominal surgeries, and a third procedure is expected Thursday morning to check his pancreas. Doctors were using Wednesday to wake him up from sedation for a neurological check.

Parmesan Oven Fries

I found this recipe on Pinterest and boy am I glad I did. I have made it every week since I found it but it is totally amazing! I have tried all kinds of oven fries and they usually are tasteless and floppy but here is the solution. They are from Playing with Sugar, she has some fantastic recipes and in her words, these fries ROCK! Unfortunately she no longer blogs but check out her site anyway.

Oven Baked Parmesan Seasoned Fries

NOTE: The amounts listed are for every one pound of fries. One pound of fries is the equivelant of appoximately 3 medium potatoes. (I just double or triple the recipe to fit within my needs).

I live in Georgia just north of Atlanta with my hubby and 2 boys. Today  I am sharing a recipe for Cream Cheese Butter Pound Cake. My Little Chef

So today was bitter sweet. It was Matthews last day at Mountain Park Baptist Preschool. Our family has been at that Preschool for 7 years. They have loved and supported us and have been such great teachers and friends. The thought of not having a kid there is unimaginable. Every year they have an end of year music show with all the kids and the theme was Community Helpers so they asked Matties class to dress like military personnel or chefs. One of my sisters friends made the funniest Halloween costume for her son when he was little. I have never forgotten it and have wondered if I would ever be able to knock it off! My day finally came!

So I went to Hobby Lobby and bought a child apron and got out my fabric markers. I used a ruler to mark out my squares

First Communion

This weekend was a big weekend in our household. It was Garrett's first communion. We are so proud of him and it was really beautiful to see him understand the beauty of taking Christ into your self. It used to be very common for boys to wear white suits but it is more common now to wear black or Navy. Since he is a lot like his Momma and doesn't like to be a follower he went for a bow tie instead of a regular tie! Doesn't he look so cute!

Poor kid he's so skinny we had to take in 4 inches on the waist of his pants and they were still loose!

Pina Colada PIe from DJ's Sugar Shack

Hello Everyone! I'm delighted to be sharing a sweet treat with y'all today. Thanks so much Kelley for swapping blogs with me today & a special thanks to Melissa from Serendipity and Spice for putting this blog swap together!
My name is Dawn & I love to create sweet treats to share on my blog DJ's Sugar Shack. I started my blog in December as an "outlet" & to spare my friends from my endless baking stories. I am having a ton of fun sharing my creations recipes and making new bloggy friends.
Born and raised in New Orleans, I moved to Alaska after college for summer work in Denali National Park. I never dreamed I would end up staying, but 12 years later I'm still here, despite the dark, frigid winters. Alaska is by far one of the most beautiful places I've seen. I recommend everyone add it to their bucket list.
Today I will be sharing a Pina Colada Pie recipe with you.

Think about what your Mom has done for you!

Letter from a Mother to a Daughter: "My dear girl, the day you see I’m getting old, I ask you to please be patient, but most of all, try to understand what I’m going through. If when we talk, I repeat the same thing a thousand times, don’t interrupt to say: “You said the same thing a minute ago”... Just listen, please. Try to remember the times when you were little and I would read the same story night after night until you would fall asleep. When I don’t want to take a bath, don’t be mad and don’t embarrass me. Remember when I had to run after you making excuses and trying to get you to take a shower when you were just a girl? When you see how ignorant I am when it comes to new technology, give me the time to learn and don’t look at me that way... remember, honey, I patiently taught you how to do many things like eating appropriately, getting dressed, combing your hair and dealing with life’s issues every day... the day you see I’m getting old, I ask you to please be patient, but most of all, try to understand what I’m going through. If I occasionaly lose track of what we’re talking about, give me the time to remember, and if I can’t, don’t be nervous, impatient or arrogant. Just know in your heart that the most important thing for me is to be with you. And when my old, tired legs don’t let me move as quickly as before, give me your hand the same way that I offered mine to you when you first walked. When those days come, don’t feel sad... just be with me, and understand me while I get to the end of my life with love. I’ll cherish and thank you for the gift of time and joy we shared. With a big smile and the huge love I’ve always had for you, I just want to say, I love you... my darling daughter. "

Teacher Appreciation

The first week of May is Teacher Appreciation Week, I wish I had gotten this out on Monday for you but I was in the bed Monday thru Wednesday with Strep! I was inspired by the post at Rachel Berry and pinned it.

When teacher appreciation week came along I went to Homegoods and got a great huge plastic wine glass, then I got out my Cricut and made some dots and an initial using the George and Lyrical Letters Cartridge.

I have a confession to make...

A few years ago I was lucky enough to join a book club in my neighborhood. Since then I have not only read a lot of books I would have missed out on my own but I have made some of the best friends ever. It is one day a month that I truly look forward to and never miss unless I'm sick. Here are the girls

There's my Chili puppy dog she always wants to join the girls, Beedee, Konnie, Bev, Candy, Louise, Cathy, Julie and Rocky.

So last week I pinned this from Playing With Sugar

A Porch Updo!

I spent this past weekend pressure washing our back porch. We did not clean off our screened porch last year so there were 2 poor little dead birds that got stuck in there among the 2 years of pollen and dust. It was pretty nasty!
